Trees Planted to Remember Christchurch Victims

On 29th March, Faiths Forum held a tree planting event in Clapton Hill, in partnership with Hackney Council and funded by the Mayor of London.

The event was attended by Cllr Sade Etti, Labour Councillor for Clissold Ward, Hackney, Cllr Caroline Selman, Labour Councillor for Woodberry Down Ward, Hackney, and Rabbi Herschel Gluck OBE, president of Shomrim in Stamford Hill and chairman of the Arab-Jewish Forum.

Rabbi Herschel Gluck said at the event, “We were all very deeply touched by the terrorist atrocity which took place in New Zealand.

“At times, it causes despair, it causes despondency, it causes us to feel that we can’t go on.

“When we plant a tree, the tree teaches us that if we do go on, we can make a difference, we can bring new life into the world.”
