New Funding Opportunities

Comic Relief’s Core Strength – Local Communities Grants Programme Opens

This programme offers grants to help cover the day to day costs of small locally led and based voluntary and community sector groups that are doing ‘much needed’ work in their local communities. Grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 or between £1,000 and £10,000 (depending on the local community foundation) are to be used to support groups that can evidence a sustained beneficial impact on people’s lives who are excluded or disadvantaged. Curiosity Fund

The Wellcome Trust have partnered with Comic Relief to create a new funding scheme named Curiosity. The fund will use the power of exciting and engaging science activities to create change for children and young people experiencing disadvantage in the UK. Applications are open for grants of up to £10,000 to fund projects that engage children and young people in science-based activities. Deadline 22nd September 2017. Apply here.

GLL Community Foundation

GLL launched the GLL Community Foundation in 2017 and are looking to support future projects. Examples of projects favoured include organising a sports tournament or improving a community library to creating a new sports league or revamping a children’s playground. Grants of up to £5,000 are available. Potential project creators are encouraged to contact GLL for advice or have a project they would like our help with. Apply here

DM Thomas Foundations for Young People Foundation

The DM Thomas Foundations for Young People Foundation has a grant scheme which aims to identify the most effective projects helping disadvantaged young people in the UK and Ireland. If favoured, grant applications for up to £5,000 can be approved by the Director, up to £10,000 can be approved by the Grants Committee, and applications for more than £10,000 are recommended to the Trustees for final approval. The Foundation is a small charity and generally will not make awards of over £30,000 (per year). The next deadline is 10th October 2017. Apply here
